《水族世界》杂志是由中华人民共和国农业部主管，全国水产技术推广总站、中国渔业协会水族分会、中国水产学会观赏鱼分会、中国水生野生动物保护分会联合主
办的唯一水族类官方刊物。2003年创刊，本着"始终代表最先进水族技术的发展需要，始终代表最先进水族文化的发展方向，始终代表广大水族爱好者的根本利益"的办
刊思想，《水族世界》在中国大陆水族业内一直处于领先地位，是目前国内发行量最大、覆盖面最广，信息量最全的水族专业刊物。
2010年水族世界全新改版以来，增加信息量到以前的两倍，除原有的技术、访谈、文化栏目外，又增设了"爱好者、新种介绍、水族收藏、海洋馆巡礼等栏目，将水族和
水族相关产业有机地联系起来，为读者开辟更广阔的视野，同时为水族业内人事架起更宽阔的交流平台。
